Columbus Oncology is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant Team Lead to join our team! This position would be Monday through Friday for 8 hour shifts during the business hours of 7:30 am to 5 pm. This position also includes the benefit of no weekends, no evenings, and paid time off for holidays.

The Medical Assistant Team Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, mentorship, training, and operational support to the MA team; partnering with the Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered clinic operations; supporting staff development, quality and process improvement initiatives; and maintaining clinical competency to provide hands-on MA support as needed.

Essential Duties:
  • Lead, mentor, and support the Medical Assistant team and MA Preceptors.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, daily assignments, and coverage needs.
  • Support onboarding, training, competency validation, and staff development.
  • Oversee daily clinical workflows, ensuring efficient patient flow, documentation, and EMR processes.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and collaborate with leadership to improve workflows and maintain continuity of care.
  • Lead team huddles and communicate departmental priorities, updates, and staffing needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance, chart audits, performance improvement, and implementation of new processes and technology.
  • Provide hands-on clinical support as needed, maintaining active CMA certification.
  • Promote compassionate, patient-centered oncology care and excellent customer service.
  • Foster collaboration among MAs, providers, nursing, scheduling, and ancillary departments.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited CMA program, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of outpatient/ambulatory healthcare required.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office, required.
  • Oncology and high-volume environment experience, preferred.
  • Previous administrative or leadership experience preferred.
  • Current Certified MA (CMA) certification required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
