Medical Payment Poster

The Medical Payment Poster is responsible for timely review, posting, and balancing of payment, adjustment, and refund transactions on patient accounts. This position ensures that reimbursement related transactions are posted accurately and in accordance with company and third party contract guidelines.
Duties include:
- Post insurance and patient payments including electronic remittance (ERA), lockbox, copay, and credit card payments.
- Responsible for balancing and maintaining batch transactions to deposits and identifying payment discrepancies.
- Post all zero payment correspondence and denial transactions utilizing most appropriate standardized reason codes.
- Analyze EOB information including co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, contractual adjustments and denials to verify accurate patient balances.
- Investigate the source of unidentified payment to ensure they are applied to the appropriate accounts.
- Post refund transactions and distribute checks to the appropriate requesting party.
- 1-3 years of experience in a physician practice business office performing payment posting activities.
- Overall knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle and associated accounts receivable follow-up process.
- Professional knowledge regarding medical billing, medical terminology and government and commercial insurance carriers.
