Pharmacy Technician
Columbus Oncology is looking for a full-time Infusion Pharmacy Technician to join our team! The primary site for this role will be at the Dublin Cancer Center, and will be Monday through Friday for hour 8 shifts during the business hours of 7:30 am to 5 pm.
The Infusion Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the technical aspects of medical preparation, distribution, record keeping, inventory control, as well as ordering IV oncology medications through various specialty pharmacies.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare compounds and dispense medications, chemotherapy, and intravenous medications upon physician’s orders.
- Check all orders for completeness; verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
- Check all orders for insurance approval before admixing. Under a professional’s supervision, admixes drugs with OSHA guidelines and practice guidelines.
- Calculate correct dosage volumes, convert between metric and apothecary equivalents. Count controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.
- Maintain current drug information while properly disposing of all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. In addition, clean hood daily, or consistent with policies.
- Oversee pharmaceutical inventory stocking including restocking and management using the computer system and processing patient charge tickets.
- Order all clinical supplies for the pharmacy, infusion area, and clinic while reconciling invoices.
- Assure all medication management responsibilities are completed in a safe, effective, secure, and regulatory compliant manner.
Qualifications:
- Pharmacy Technician License (Required)
- Pharmacy: 1 year (Preferred)
- Sterile compounding experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Ability to work an 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday
